I’m only planning on leveling Engineering to 75 to get the Mechanical Squirrel (lost Need rolls both times I’ve seen the recipe drop so obviously I’ll win the next one). Here’s how I plan on doing it.
1-30 Rough Blasting Powder
30-52 Handful of Copper Bolts
53-75 Rough Copper Bombs
65 Copper Modulator
75 Mechanical Squirrel Box
The only trick, as usual with planning power-leveling, is giving myself some breathing room with the yellow skill-ups. I need to make plenty of extra blasting powders and copper bolts, but I only need 23 skillups from bombs and they turn yellow at 60, so I’d need to make 14 of them in the yellow zone. So lets give myself a 30% fail rate (which is crazy high, but beats having to grind more mats), which means I need to make 5 extra bombs. That means I need:
29 Linen Cloth
89 Copper Ore
54 Rough Stone
That’d also leave me with 27 Copper Bombs, which would be a tasty little treat for a bit. I suppose at the same time I do all this, I could knock out the new Darkmoon Faire profession quests for both Mining and Engineering.
I’m not going to bother looking at taking Engineering to 100 for the Flying Tiger Goggles. In order to use them I’d have to keep Engineering so the whole “how many mats do I need to power-level so I can drop the gathering prof as soon as I get enough mats” question is kinda out the door as I’d really want to keep Mining to supply mats for explosives. Engineering then becomes a “you get there when you get there” type of prof.
