So last night I decided to grind out a Glowing Cat Figurine (a unique, one-use level 20 combat pet) and I must say I don’t think its worth the grind. The trip alone took about 20 minutes (porting to Moonglade, flying to Zoram’gar Outpost, and then hoofing it up all the way through Darkshore). The cat figurines which spawn the Ghost Sabers are basically in a circle in northern Darkshore where some trolls are digging through the Ruins of Mathystra. Each cat figurine has a chance to spawn a Ghost Saber and each Ghost Saber has a chance to drop a Glowing Cat Figuring.
All-in I spent 55 minutes farming the item. Its a unique, one-use item and even for the ideal situation (when it’d make a difference between me winning or loosing out on a Gurubashi chest), I can’t justify spending almost an hour of farming for an event that I only spend 5 minutes on at 6:00 am.
The cool thing about the pet is that it stays out for 10 minutes so if I do see a possibly tough-win situation (Hunter or Pally) I can toss him out before combat begins to hopefully throw the opponent off (it’d basically be two cats appearing to come out of stealth at the same time).
Alliance doesn’t have it too much better. Getting there is much easier for them, but all the trolls are friendly to Horde so Alliance has to plow through them all while they’re hunting for figurines.
Also note that this trips the cooldown for most of the explosives and Slumber Sand so definitely something to keep in mind.
