Last week during Noblegarden, I realized that my P2P account was up for another 10-day retry. Last time (I think you get 10 free days every 3 months or something), I spent most of the time leveling up a Horde Deathknight as my only toon at high level was my old main, an Alliance Warlock.
So this time she was lvl 59 and I took her off to Zangarmarsh to start grinding rep with my f2p 20 Druid. So far its going pretty well. I had hoped to use her to summon my Druid to some inaccessible places, but she needs 250 gold for flying and another 250 gold to fly in Azeroth. She’s no where near that but I have a choice at the moment of either grinding quests for gold or grinding mobs for rep and xp, so I’m choosing the mobs.
The first thing I did was grind Scarlet Monastary for the Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade. Not only does it match my mog suit, but there’s a question as to whether it’ll be available in MoP or not. After the tabard, I went and ran through Gnomeregan for my last dungeon achievement.
Some people claim (and I believe them) that it takes about 8 hours to grind Sporeggar to Exalted, but I’m only getting about 3,000 rep per hour. I only have time for about an hour of grinding a day (tops), so I have maybe 5 more hours to grind before my free re-try expires. That’d put me right at 0/21000 Revered. Hopefully when I get my next re-try I’ll hopefully be able to finish off Exalted.
I choose Sporeggar first as its a pretty obvious choice. There’s no other grind that gives that many goodies. A pet, tabard, 1/3 of a title, a cooking recipe, and an achievement. I had thought about taking a break and grinding Mag’mar to Neutral for the four cooking recipes it offers, but Horde can’t get the 100 cooking recipes achievement anyway so I don’t see much use right now. I’d rather have Sporeggar.
I did splurge and get her a +speed enchant for her boots. It set her back 30 gold, but I figure the time saved running around the tunnel is well worth it. I put my Druid in Cat Form to follow her and it works out really well.
The one thing I’m kicking myself for is that I never realized you could only have one Deathknight per server. My plan was to make another DK, then let my Druid kill it for the That Takes Class achievement, but I’m kinda stuck down my current path now. I don’t want to delete my current DK and loose the time I spent leveling her to 59 (now 61) as well as the gold I’ve collected. Maybe when I’ve got all the rep I want to grind and the exploration achievements I want, I may delete her and create a new one just for my Druid to knock off, but no time soon.
Also, while I’ve been running Sporeggar rep, I’ve been doing random “/who quel’danas” to see who’s over there to summon my DK, which would then summon my Druid. You can’t get to the isle on your own until level 70 and I’m not sure my DK will ever get that high. In all its another 35 achievement points, 10 for the Isle and 25 for completing Eastern Kingdoms.
